Consent and Safety

Th Velvet Mynx believes strongly in the motto of safety and consensual t in and outside the community we provide to. However we do understand that everyone's journey is their own and while we do not believe in one true way, we do believe in some of the ideologies and terminology below.

Safe, Sane, Consensual -description defining above

Risk Awareness play- in all forms of play, we can find there is some form of inherent risk. Be it emotional or physical, we find the best way to handle this is through informed consent. Should all parties involved be able to communicate their concerns and desires, we can find what risks are involved in such play and with this, use it to minimize as well as agree to whatever risks participating parties may be involved in.

Negotiations - communication is key in our belief system and without such, we do not see informed consent as being as easily possible. We encourage those playing or considering play to look into classes or in depth discussions of what it means to negotiate and good ground bases to cover. Whether as a top or a bottom, when beginning with a new partner or simply playing with anyone before doing a scene, negotiations are possible. Negotiations can be done before any scene, old or new partners and we encourage strongly to look at this option so one can be safe and still express their desires when playing with someone in public or in private.

Red, Yellow, Green, MAY DAY

As a shop with a location inside a dungeon, we encourage those playing to think of using the red light, green light system. As we expect those playing to adhere to the rules of the dungeon separate from ours, we encourage people to look into safety words, symbols, or motions with their partner so that when playing, a good system can be gauged for what is going on mentally and physically for both the top and the bottom. This can also help with communicating how both parties would like to see the actions continue or cease immediately.

For further definition of Red, Yellow, Green, May Day - Please see individual dungeon rules.

Red- stop, scene is over.

Yellow- hold on, something needs to be changed, adjusted or need a break.

Green- We're all good.

May Day- I need outside assistance NOW.
